Cat Foster Care Form

Fostering is a compassionate way to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.

RRAR is a foster-based animal rescue that relies on a network of caring individuals who temporarily provide homes for the homeless, unwanted, and abused animals. Fostering allows cats to receive individual attention, socialization and rehabilitation, ultimately increasing their chances of a successful adoption. As an RRAR canine foster, your home will offer transitional care and support while the rescue works diligently to find a permanent, loving home for the cat(s). Remember, fostering isn’t a “life of the cat” commitment—It’s about providing love and care during a critical period of transition for these beautiful souls.

The Process:

• Apply to foster

• Complete a home check

• Become a part of our foster community

• Receive messages of our cats in need

• Let us know if you're able to welcome a particular cat in need into your home

• We can set up a meeting before you commit to ensure its a great temporary match for both cat and human

What We Supply:

• Collar and ID tags

• Food and Treats

• A Bed and Toys

• A Crate (if needed)

• Potty Pads

• Medical care

What You Supply:

Please note

While we strive to find the perfect match between an adoptable cat and a foster parent, there are instances where it may not be an ideal fit. In such cases, we will make alternative arrangements, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility while the adjustments are made. Unfortunately, we rarely have advance knowledge of whether the foster cat is hypoallergenic, good with children, or compatible with cats.

We are a Central Alabama-based animal rescue. Our partner veterinarians are located in Montgomery and a majority of our adopters live within the River Region. We require that fosters are local to Central Alabama and are committed to transporting their foster cat (s) to both medical appointments and potential adopter meet-and-greets.

Once approved you’ll receive an RRAR FOSTER CARE CARD. This card grants you permission to facilitate veterinary care by allowing you to drop off, pick up and accept veterinary instructions on behalf of River Region Animal Rescue. While you won’t be authorized to make medical decisions, your personal knowledge of the dog’s health and behavioral issues will be invaluable in ensuring the best possible medical care outcome.

You will also receive an invitation to our exclusive River Region Animal Rescue Fosters Discord Group. There, you’ll have the ability to get in touch with the right RRAR representative at the right time for any questions or concerns. Additionally, You can engage with other fosters, sharing advice, swapping stories or simply chit-chatting.
